Republicans have nothing of substance to talk about, so they're pretending that President Biden is going to break down your door and haul away your gas stove. Maybe he's hooking up a trailer to his Corvette?

Look at all of these states that have made sure that individual cities can't pass climate-friendly legislation to prevent gas stoves in new construction. Not taking anything away – if you want to move into an apartment with a gas range, you pick an apartment built before 2019 or 2027.

(The graphic is from 2022. Only the states that are red on this map have passed laws preventing gas bans. Michigan's legislation didn't pass and former Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf vetoed that state's bill.)

I like gas cooking too. I shrugged when I found the right condo and it was electric, not gas. Now that I've learned about the climate and health issues of gas, I'm glad I have electric.

Will There Be a Gas Stove Ban? Here's What to Know

Research shows that natural gas stoves produce dangerous levels of air pollutants.

@MariaHill
One needs factual information to make informed decisions. Republicans are clearly no fans of that.

A good percentage of asthma and other pulmonary problems are caused by indoor air pollution. Gas stoves and appliances/furnaces/water heaters are major sources. This is due to the methane itself (and not all is consumed in combustion), by other gases with methane such as benzene which occurs naturally with methane (benzene is toxic and a carcinogen), generation of carbon monoxide from burning gas, and from the additive given to gas that gives it an odor. Chemical compounds called mercaptans are added to gas to alert people to gas leaks and fugitive gas because the methane itself is odorless and colorless. Mercaptan itself is a gas with inhalation toxicity.

Again, a non-partisan agency of government tries to do its job but is ridiculed and criticized by a political party that acts on behalf of an industry and low information, instead working for the common good.

@MariaHill @PJQuill Hahaha. Probably more than anyone wanted to know but there it is.
@TonyStark
Hey man I learned.
@MariaHill
@MariaHill @PJQuill I would also like to add that in some rural areas, electrical service can be unreliable so people there may be more reluctant to think about switching to something else however that lack of reliable electrical service is often due to something else Republicans won’t support: upgraded infrastructure.

@TonyStark

The infrastructure week that was always maybe next year, maybe never under Republicans.

@PJQuill

@PJQuill @MariaHill It’s coming right with their healthcare replacement plan, their plan for inflation, and crime reduction plan. AKA, definitely never.
@TonyStark @PJQuill @MariaHill Always thought he was an attractive man, even though I was young. Sound weird?
@MariaHill @chrisncakes1 @PJQuill He was funny. That’s always attractive.
