In the wake of gender affirming healthcare bans that are spreading across red states, an even more inhumane bill has begun to take root - bills that charge parents with child abuse for trans care.

Wyoming would issue 10 year felony prison sentences for gender affirming care as "child abuse." Wyoming has accessory laws where if a parent brings their child to a doctor to get this care, they could be charged as well with the same penalty. See bill# SF0111

Mississippi HB456 would define transgender youth receiving gender affirming care as abused. It specifically singles parents out for "consenting to" it.

Texas, Missouri, and Indiana all have seen similar bills proposed. I expect we will see even more such bills in coming days.

Trans youth on gender affirming care have a 73% lower risk of suicidality according to a JAMA study.

In foster care, they have a 3-5x increased risk.

If these bills are passed, families would be torn apart entirely. They would carry with them a death toll.

We have already seen Texas begin enforcing older child abuse provisions against the families of trans youth.

We must stand up against these bills.
