There are loads of free to use and reuse images up on the Library of Congress website, everything from a cat in valkyrie gear to wonderful photos by William P. Gottlieb of jazz greats like Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, and, one of my personal favorites, Cab Calloway.
