A great reminder that the purpose of a tech stack is to deliver value to your customers and your business. When companies talk more about their tech stack than what it does for customers then they don’t have a business.

This is a hallmark of web3 & crypto

Your tech stack is not the product

Early stage technology decisions must be, uncomfortably, a means to an end.

@carnage4life I agree that the tech stack should deliver value to customers, but some types of customers LOVE hearing irrelevant details about the tech stack. Especially in the web3 and crypto communities.
And even outside, it helps in hiring - see: Figma. Great business, cool tech.

@carnage4life one counterpoint the original article neglected to mention is performance. While I agree with the sentiment, I would be remiss if I didn't say:

> I have sadly never had a customer write a testimonial for the elegant collection of internal services involved in responding to that single HTTP request.

No, but I have seen a direct correlation between speed and sales (see https://wpostats.com/), and as such the stack is still relevant. Pick fast stuff.

Good article nonetheless

@carnage4life Agreed. Customers don't (or at least shouldn't) care about your tech stack, unless you are selling a tech stack.
