Just tripped over a "go back to work snowflakes" comment on LinkedIn in support of the whiplash "back to the office" mandates and I refuse to believe that -- after a pandemic, advancements in remote tech, and delayed epiphanies that talent isn't tied to location -- we're actually still at this ridiculous point.

I respect that some companies require an in-office presence for whatever niche purpose, but to think it's *the way* to collaborate is hilariously dated and showcases a lack of embracing modern management and workflows.

Everyone has the right to be a dinosaur if they want, though. 😏

@kr1573n our org was building a new office / multipurpose educational facility that was almost completed when covid started. Most of our ppl went to WFH. When restrictions eased upmost of our employees were given the opportunity to stay home or come in to the new building. When they realized that no one wanted to commute to the new facility the higher ups removed the option and made hybrid work mandatory. 3 days on-site 2 days WFH. I feel like a lot of the whiplash is tied to money ☚ī¸

@RadarOxReilly absolutely. That's a hell of an investment at a horrible time, but shoving people back will backfire long-term.

My company went thru the same and started leasing space because we just don't require the in-office enough. It's a mark of "well that sucks but we move forward" acknowledgement that I really appreciate.

Cuz yeah sunk costs can suck people in.
