Apache can change its name

So can Ubuntu tbh

The GNU photoshop too, but for different reasons

FOSS names are kind of shit huh

Also no, before you jump in here to suggest it, forking it doesn't undo the harm
@researchfairy Really hoping for the GNU photoshop one especially because I use it all the time and can't abide by the name and thus can't recommend it to people.
@jessamyn @researchfairy Any thoughts about "GNU Imp"? I remember someone (reddit maybe?) tried to make that one popular at some time... dunno, 2015-ish? and it is closer to a true "name" in semantics since GIMP is a multilevel acronym (one of various issues with free software names). Though I haven't checked in like 5 years of "imp" happens to be a Problematic word now.
@VeniaSilente @jessamyn Changing the name so that the acronym slur is no longer accurate and can't be used to refer to it would be better

@researchfairy @jessamyn Undoubtedly, but is a more far away option that requires working with their vision (and/or the merits they document for keeping the name, and/or it being a English language issue). Thus I'm interested in seeing people trying "work with what we have" options.

(Which sucks, because "glimpse" was a pretty good name, quite easy to verb and "commonalize" as in with eg.: cola, aspirin, post-it, etc)

@VeniaSilente @researchfairy Yeah I don't mind GNU Imp at all (understanding the "work with what we have" mindset) but I do think it will just make recalcitrant folks keep using the old/bad name. Glimpse is lovely and I'm sorry it didn't catch on.

@jessamyn @VeniaSilente @researchfairy

for real, glimpse was great. I was so hoping it would stick
