I’ve had a Model X exhibit this same behavior on #Tesla full self driving. It seems the car has more phantom braking problems with FSD than it does with AP. I’m curious if this has anything to do with the over-reliance on camera systems that Musk insists on vs. LiDAR which is what everyone else uses. When driving on FSD I’ve basically had zero trust in the system and monitor it by the second. #selfdriving

Here’s What Happened In The 8-Car Pileup In SF Blamed On Tesla’s FSD

The Tesla Model S, which reportedly had Full Self-Driving active, signals a lane change, moves to the fast lane, and then suddenly stops, without having any car or obstacle in front of it.

@ev Well the whole thing is that you have to actively monitor this beta product, as it clearly tells you every time you turn it on. In the year I’ve had it, it’s grown markedly better, requiring fewer interventions. But I wouldn’t let my attention flag ever. Per the system’s instructions. Also worth noting that FSD does not apply to Highway yet, so this may have been Autopilot, but not FSD.
@NthMonkey I think the biggest concern is, and always has been, the phantom braking problem and I can’t understand why it seems to have gotten worse with FSD.
