@DarcyDisgrace I grew up in South Africa on the edge of a nature reserve. As a result, I became acutely aware of rainfall patterns, temperature and wind and their influence on the fires that came raging up the mountain towards my house.

@DarcyDisgrace @mrxmrt once upon a time I got to participate in prairie burns out in the Midwest. I miss the burn itself and the post-burned landscape so much. And it’s such a potent management tool. Bleh another thing I hope the eastern landscape gets back one day

@crpike @mrxmrt They’re new to me after growing up on the edge of Appalachia, but the more I dive into native plants, the more I learn! Moving to Missouri and Nebraska helped too.
