do people not get that fediblock is a social WMD and using it as irresponsibly as people have been is pretty bad?

who moderates the moderators because right now there's very little accountability other than pushback for false/poorly researched defederation requests

just follow the tag for a bit and you'll see

it's important to block harmful instances but "harm" has had so much scope creep this past decade

@NireBryce *nodds in agreement*

I think the approach as per #eMail #Spamming and #MaliciousActors works best...

@NireBryce I feel like many people don't grasp that the (generally good) rhetoric around "mute and block (individual users) on social media to keep your experience tolerable" doesn't map well to blocking non-single-user instances where someone may be absolutely a good person to block, but they haven't necessarily done anything so wide-reaching as to merit blocking the whole instance they happen to be on.

There are a lot of people whose posts I don't want to see, but their instance is fine

@NireBryce e.g. there's a handful of trans people whose posts are a constant feed of the transphobia happening in politics, and it's too stressful for me to see their posts boosted all the time ... but I don't even have any actual disagreement with them, nor do I think their admins are doing any wrong for letting them do this.

Also some people just... mildly annoy me, but that doesn't need wider enforcement, just ignoring
