I worked in computer science, and I had an associate who didn't seem to get the "mission" concept. He'd work feverishly on a project to produce a masterpiece. But we had mission constraints, especially concerning schedule.

I tried repeatedly to impress upon him that the mission needed a timely and adequate solution more than a masterpiece. A solution of beauty that arrived too late was useless, a mission failure.
