Elie Mystal:

Huge #SupremeCourt case today. Glacier v Teamsters.

Cement truck drivers went out on strike. Some cement in their trucks hardened (as cement is known to do). After the strike, co. *sued workers* for destruction of property. Issue is whether they can.

If co wins, will vitiate ability of workers to strike (which has been happening quite a bit, don't you know).

Now is where I remind you Roberts Court has been most pro-business court in US history that lives to smash #labor rights

2/ 🧵 More from Elie:

I haven't heard Alito's high pitched antebellum squeal he claims to be his real voice yet.

It worries me that he hasn't felt the need to say "without cement companies we'd have no way to drown witches as the founders intended."

I fear he's quiet because he knows he's won.

This is all going even worse than I figured, and I figured it would go pretty badly.

Essentially KBJ, Sotomayor abandoned best arguments for unions, are now focused on limiting scope of the eventual corp victory.

Well, that sucked.

Every labor case start w this Court 6-3 against labor.

This case might be 8-1 or 9-0 w liberals siding w the jackboots to limit the scope of this ruling. Getting very Fulton v. City of Philadelphia (anti gay adoption case that was 9-0) vibes.

@GottaLaff I can only see one solution to the extreme corruption ruling the Supreme Corporations of the US: burn it down. Figuratively, of course. It's no longer a viable unbiased court. It's now just making law to benefit their rich lords and to force extreme Catholic theocracy on the US, all against the actual Constitution...and they know it.
@EarthOne It's losing legitimacy daily
@GottaLaff Husband knew him in college. Said he was a wierdo back then too.
