Who has switched Mastodon servers and how did you do it? I want to move over to indieweb.social but feel overwhelmed.

@pnts I have, it's not too bad.

First, create the new account. Go to /settings/profile on the new instance and scroll to the bottom. You'll see the moving controls.

On the new account, configure Moving From by creating an account alias, instructions there.

On the old account, configure Move To, instructions there.

I did this before I started following/publicizing the account so I'm not sure what pain points come up with moving following/followers.

@pnts i swtiched to the server i'm on now right after i joined actually. you join your new server... then you go to settings>profile and the two links to switch servers are down at the bottom. you have to have your new @ on your new server before you can initiate the switch....
