I’ve an #AmstradCPC464 #retrocomputer. Is there a way to use external ROMs to update BASIC to 1.1 and so get access to ROMs 7..15? If so, what ROM images in what slots? (I have a DD5 so effectively have extra RAM and Amsdos ROMs).
@GrantMeStrength yeah, there's patched OS1.1 For the 464
@devlin is that the 32kb ROM image I found? Not sure how that would work in an external ROM board.. slots 0 and 1?
@GrantMeStrength I'm not so sure, I think you can override rom 0 but I've not much knowledge about ROMs and stuff
@devlin @GrantMeStrength there was one ROM board that allowed this back in the day it was the "ROM board extra" from microstyle. It had 6 slots 1 to 6 and a 7th socket that was mapped to lower and 0. You put your 32k 6128 (or 664) ROM in here and it then gave you basic 1.1. nowadays it's easier just to desolder the ROM, fit a socket put a 32k EPROM internally.
@devlin @craigsbar that sounds like the way to do it. Unsoldering braid at the ready!
