If Republicans are so "pro-life," why do they refuse to protect children from being gunned down at school?
@rbreich . Sickening comparison. I must add that most of these assaults including on your house speaker spouse, all schools shooters and most if not all serial killers are victims themselves of our healthcare systems refusal to identify or treat serious mental illness aka psychosis, the left has a poorer record that the political right in that manner, as public treatment of the mentally is considered a restriction on the poor. Mental health is good for business and would end these atrocities
@Hdb60 @rbreich your claim on the right having a better history than the left on mental healthcare is completely wrong. Reagan ended federal funding for it. Dems enacted Obamacare and pay 90% of cost to states but gop fight it constantly. Gop actually fight to make it easier for mentally ill, terrorists, and violent criminals to have easier access to more lethal guns. Other countries have mentally ill people too but don’t have mass shooters bc of gun laws
@twitterreject @rbreich . Just some rabble babble for you thanks, you can’t have both guns and mental illness, by choosing to remain armed as the us does, it must now adapt with much higher mental illness detection and mitigation tools, aka pharma. From inception care for all kids. Costs then drop dramatically in social services, energy health, positive outlook improves, the need to smother yourself in comfort declines. You give more need less comfy lifestyles,
@Hdb60 @rbreich that’s the Republican policies though. They want everyone to have easy access to guns, even the mentally ill. They blame mental illness for shootings but they want to cut all funding for treatment of mental illness too. That’s what we deal with
@twitterreject @rbreich . Here’s a comment. The republicans policies have been a mixture of lurches, backward and forward since the beginning, I don’t see political parties as much as I see there are always special interest groups vying for control, Lincoln to trump. Address on gun lobby at a time, not the blob called republicans. Policy, the only policy most have is not missing a meal. Perhaps..
@Hdb60 @rbreich before getting into any policies, you have to recognize that both parties changed every belief they had around 1970 when the southern conservative dems switched to voting gop. This caused the more liberal republicans to switch to Democratic Party and is what we have today. It’s easier to historically describe voters as liberal & conservative since that never changed. Conservatives favored gun control until late 80’s/early 90’s when NRA changed it’s view.
@twitterreject @rbreich . the nra .. what a disaster. History of the nra is an ugly thing, un-American if you ask me, dangerous and radical. no social policy, border security, mental health position, not even a guide for managing weapons. Not advocating guns for law and order instead. Guns for security for paranoids, guns for single mothers, guns for entertainment , gun for that feeling or power, ...Just ugly raw support for arming everyone . Sometimes I think the nra is run by Putin flunkies
@Hdb60 @rbreich conservatives seem to only favor a “small government” bc they are consistently at odds with what the rest of the country wants. When they are in power, “states rights” is gone and they want their policies nationalized. Huge lie to justify slavery.
I.e. while most states were legalizing pot, when Jeff Sessions became AG, he started raiding all “state legal” pot operations. Now conservatives are pushing for a national abortion ban too.
