A #PoliticalLanguage #Languages question

- In the US, blue is left of centre, & red right of centre, right up to the MAGAs.

-in the UK, it is red which is everything left of centre, & blue means conservative, up to (but possibly not including?) Fascism.

The same applies in French, Italian & German, I believe.
SO
- Is it correct to say that in Europe, red conveys leftist, & blue is associated with right wing groups?

-Is there a red/blue divide beyond Europe?

-How/why did the US diverge?

@greeneralia
In Germany:
Black is CDU and CSU, conservative parties (ranging from actual conservatives like Merkel to people too close to the AfD for comfort)
Blue is AfD, alt-right/"Im not a Nazi, but..."

Yellow is FDP, liberal / centrists

Red is SPD and Linke
SPD are social-democrats, center-left
Linke are leftwing, mix of social-democrats angry at SPD for forgetting the 'left' part of 'center-left' and everything on the left without its own party.

@Toboe
Thank-you very much.
[I am a Liberal Democrat, also with yellow or orange as our colour like your FDP.]
