Adolph Miller, Cal Class of 1887 and Professor of Economics, was born January 7, 1866. He became one of the 12 original Governors of the Federal Reserve in 1914 (the only economist in the group). He was a major benefactor of UC Berkeley, endowing the Miller Institute for pure science research.
The Miller Institute at UC Berkeley was founded by a donation from Adolph & Mary Sprague Miller. It supports research at Cal into pure science & fundamental scientific problems. The first group of Miller Fellows included astronomer Carl Sagan. For more: https://miller.berkeley.edu/
