@taurus I mean, I've been seeing conversation around #/fediblock about how the tag was created and powered by queer BIPOC - there's definitely been all kinds of marginalized folks here shaping culture and having conversations and I wouldn't discount that.

But yes, the tech adoption is a barrier. I have been listening to @futurebird who has talked a bit about that and how it shapes the culture here - for worse

Sometimes BAME / POC people hide in plain sight as part of the white queer community, especially if we're mixed race, in mixed relationships or part of mainly white groups. It's complicated.

Just because we haven't pointed ourselves out doesn't mean we're not here.

 

@srfirehorseart @taurus @futurebird you're absolutely right and it's something I need to be mindful of! I'm still working on removing the "white is the default" mindset I grew up with, and the more reminders the better 😊
