Can someone give me the TLDR on the US Speaker of the House situation and why it matters? Do the Republicans actually control the House now or is this just another case of the Democrats failing to keep their reps in line?

@AnirbanM @sofiav republican only control the house with a 10 representatives majority (222 to 212). Since there are more than 10 extremely insane representatives this means they need the extremely insane to pass things that need a simple majority, including the speaker election.

The term for Representatives is only 2 years. It isn't clear to me whether this means that incumbents needed to get sworn in s well, but I think it might.
