AI question, for a joke.

Does this make sense, or anyway enough sense to make a comic? Basic idea: guy is worried about his art getting used as training data without his permission. So, he puts a bunch of nonsensical tags on it (e.g. 400 names for different kinds of cheese). He can use it for AI art because he knows which tags to remove, but it'll screw up for anyone else.

@ZachWeinersmith it makes sense. I don't think it'd work in practicality unless you had multiple pieces of training data massing with the same tags
@ZachWeinersmith The AI folks start training an AI on which tags to remove, which starts a debate over the meaning/interpretation of the art among the AI folks as they have to do it by hand at first to train their tag-removal-AI.
@ZachWeinersmith
Nice idea! Like a "Mountweazel" for AI art.
Possibly better: The town of Agloe, NY, was a fake town to detect copyright infringement, but someone near there named a store after the town the map said they were in; now the place exists (from a Gizmodo dot com article).
@Rmond Ha, that's exactly what got me thinking about it.
@ZachWeinersmith It makes sense. I think it might even work to some extent as well-- there's probably optimal non-related tags for certain subjects to ruin the model the most. If the artist were prolific enough maybe they could start to poison AI art bots for specific terms.
@ZachWeinersmith works as a joke, in real life there would be dataset cleanups and inspections as part of the training procedure, his tags are likely to get cleaned up.
@ZachWeinersmith this makes sense and reminds of a motivating intro to private/differently-private/federated learning
@ZachWeinersmith There used to be some search engine thing that inserted random terms into your queries before searching with google, often works just as well but confusing for SEO and ad targeting... I wonder what it was called
@ZachWeinersmith It reads to me like a situation in search of a punchline. Kind of like a walrus, a rabbi, and a ham sandwich walking into a bar. And then...?
@ZachWeinersmith Could it be that you have a cheese obsession?
@ZachWeinersmith extra layer to the joke: everyone gets the same idea and the ai learns to find associated the ideas consistently but with the wrong tags. Creating an ongoing arms race to keep fucking up the tag
