This from Noam on Post.
@SpockResists I appreciate the sentiment, but unfortunately I wouldn't trust McCarthy to stand by his word.
@SpockResists I would believe it if at any time during the past two years when they have had jumped on any little opportunity to take the exit ramp, but they did not.
@SpockResists I guess wishful thinking *technically* counts as a type of thinking...
@SpockResists Maybe Noam and Elon aren’t as far apart as they’d like us to think.

@SpockResists

I'd like to believe this could work, except (1) I don't believe McCarthy can be trusted, and (2) it is premised on the idea that Republicans would be choosing sane, productive Democrats over crazy Magas.

I may be overly cynical, but Democrats have had the proverbial football jerked away too many times for me to trust them to play ball moving forward.
Just my opinion.

@SpockResists
Bi-partisan myopia, can’t see the knife behind the back. Thank god Biden recovered from it.
@SpockResists I wouldn’t trust McCarthy or Republicans to honour their promises. Is there a way for us to be sure that they will? Draft an agreement?
@SpockResists if Dems would negotiate a block on Hunter Biden investigations, MAGA will take that as proof.
@OlafPijl @SpockResists I wouldn’t even put that on the table. It’s not like Hunter Biden is president. Guarantee you, they don’t have 💩 compared to what Donald Trump/Trump kids have done while in the White House.
@harleygold @SpockResists totally agree. Congress and the DOJ have bigger fish to fry.
@SpockResists
John Lennon: still inspiring after all these years.
@SpockResists No matter what happens. Democrats are being blamed for this and then the Democrats will be blamed after this. Might as well start negotiations and take credit for it. Republicans fkn do that all the time, take credit for other peoples work. The world is watching and something has to be done. Let’s be the superheroes. 🦹🏻‍♀️
@SpockResists
McCarthy has proven himself untrustworthy already so why would he keep his word with Democrats?

@SpockResists

I'm sorry but this is a nuclear bad take, the entire Democratic caucus has never been this organized in my lifetime and gains nothing from bipartisan work with their opponents.

The Republican party have no legislative agenda and their only goal with this house majority is to run high profile hearings without substantive action. If Democrats aid McCarthy they will receive empty promises from a party leader who clearly has no control over his own caucus and will never see any electoral benefits from doing so.

What is the obsession with liberals worshipping to the idea of bipartisanship compromised legislation when their voters are either uninformed or don't want ineffectual legislation and procedural processes to pass in Congress? The Democrats continue to lose when they appeal this enlightened centrist voter and would do well to at least pay lip service to the coalitions of people knocking doors for their campaigns.

@SpockResists

Whoa. His delusion is concerning.

@SpockResists The country is being held hostage by the conservatives. They want to show their power.
