I'd like to believe this could work, except (1) I don't believe McCarthy can be trusted, and (2) it is premised on the idea that Republicans would be choosing sane, productive Democrats over crazy Magas.
I may be overly cynical, but Democrats have had the proverbial football jerked away too many times for me to trust them to play ball moving forward.
Just my opinion.
I'm sorry but this is a nuclear bad take, the entire Democratic caucus has never been this organized in my lifetime and gains nothing from bipartisan work with their opponents.
The Republican party have no legislative agenda and their only goal with this house majority is to run high profile hearings without substantive action. If Democrats aid McCarthy they will receive empty promises from a party leader who clearly has no control over his own caucus and will never see any electoral benefits from doing so.
What is the obsession with liberals worshipping to the idea of bipartisanship compromised legislation when their voters are either uninformed or don't want ineffectual legislation and procedural processes to pass in Congress? The Democrats continue to lose when they appeal this enlightened centrist voter and would do well to at least pay lip service to the coalitions of people knocking doors for their campaigns.
Whoa. His delusion is concerning.
