Robert McNeesGerman physicist Martin Brendel took the first photograph of an aurora #OTD in 1892, at Alta fjord in northern Norway.
MayaSThe photo below is often mistakenly presented as Brendel's first aurora photo. But it was taken about four weeks later, on February 1st. The photo was printed in the October , 1897 issue of “The Century,” a quarterly magazine.
