Putin orders weekend truce in Ukraine; Kyiv won't take part

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday ordered his armed forces to observe a unilateral 36-hour cease-fire in Ukraine this weekend for the Orthodox Christmas holiday, the first such sweeping truce move in the nearly 11-month-old war .

And I am certain that this cease fire will totally be honored as much as the grain corridor ceasefire or the civilian evacuation route ceasefire.

When Russians declare a cease fire, they're just hoping that it gets non-cobatants out and about for easier targeting. Given how piss poor their weapons are, it's their only play.

@EugeneMcParland they've probably run out of ammunition in Donetsk (much of it blown up next to a barracks recently 🤷‍♂️) and have run out of missiles and drones close enough to launch.
