so i'm genuinely curious; not a shitpost. do people really think the FediBlock hashtag is a useful moderation tool? how much due diligence does anyone do on the information they gather from the tag? because from where i'm standing, it seems like a well-intentioned but misguided idea that can too easily be used for dogpiles, without any real organizational system or recordkeeping.
@Tato Yes. It's based on trust. If you trust the person posting a fediblock recommentation, you can choose to act on their advice at whatever level seems appropriate. It's not an all-or-nothing opt-in thing like a subscription automated blocklist - i.e it's a social not a technical solution. It's also been around for a long time and this is not a new conversation.
@alex thanks for the perspective, but i'm not sure what's up with the snark at the end. i'm sorry i wasn't around for those previous rounds of the conversation. i'm trying to wrap my head around it by asking an honest question and sharing my impressions.
@Tato Yeah sorry, my intent was to sound firm, not hostile /gen
