I had a job one summer in college doing low level data entry.

Taught myself to touch type that summer (was abroad the semester that was taught in high school and missed it), as well as 10-key. Just did it so I could be faster at the data entry, because when I was done they just let me surf the web: time I spent on forums debating with newfound speed.

That job and just learning how to express myself swiftly on a computer has probably had a massive impact on my career arc—it’s kinda wild.

@coloradotravis my handwriting is slow but I can type over 100wpm with minimal errors. I often think being born late enough to use a laptop for law school exams may have been the difference between finishing in the top 5% and the bottom 50%—most 1st year exams are designed to throw you more relevant screwball facts than you have adequate time to competently analyze and address.
@coloradotravis did you learn a better keyboard layout? It's a big uplift
