The ruling class needs us to increasingly normalize preventable deaths. Trading some pathetic replication of the past (familiarity) for our tolerance of preventable suffering and death is now the whole game. They need people to cooperate and we need to resist.
@MsKellyMHayes what do you mean with the reference to familiarity and replication of the past? I am not sure I follow.
@tom4okstate @MsKellyMHayes I took it to mean the tendency to do things the way "they've always been done" and resist new ways of thinking and doing. It's easier to fall back on old habits than to make new ones.
@tom4okstate people are conditioned to replicate existing social relations, even as the means to do so deteriorate. One of the reasons we do this is that we associate what is familiar with safety, even if the things we are most familiar with don't really keep us safe.
@MsKellyMHayes I see what you're saying. Agree.

Every inch we let them take in the pandemic will be a mile lost in the climate crisis
@MsKellyMHayes
ruling class ? that very concept needs revision in a country based on government by "we the people" 👊🇺🇲⚖️🕯️

If we don’t accept reduction in life expectancy, we’ll have to have better air quality and paid sick leave
