PARTICIPANT INFORMATION Thank you for your interest in participating in this study. Before proceeding, please take some time to read the study information below. GENERAL This research is being carried out by Natalie Allan a student attending the Buckinghamshire New University. INFORMATION ABOUT THE RESEARCH STUDY AND COLLECTED RESEARCH DATA The purpose of the research is to determine, ‘Teachers’ perceptions of the benefits to pupils from promoting Reading for Pleasure (RfP) in Primary Schools’. This study is being conducted by Natalie Allan (Buckinghamshire New University). Data will be collected between as soon after ethical approval as possible until March 2023 or until 50 responses are received, whichever comes first. The research involves an online questionnaire with a series of questions about Reading for Pleasure in primary schools. This project has received ethical approval from Buckinghamshire New University. It is up to you to decide whether to take part. If you do decide to take part, you will be asked to indicate that you have read this information sheet, and you will be asked to indicate that you consent to participate. If you choose to take part, you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire with a series of open and closed questions. It is anticipated the questionnaire will take between 20 – 30 minutes. Questions will include identifying successful strategies in promoting RfP in your school and why they work. You will be asked what your reading SATs results were for 2021-2022, and to provide any relevant contextual information. When the MA is completed and passed, I will offer all participants the opportunity to read the completed dissertation and consider the recommendations. HOW WILL THE DATA I PROVIDE BE USED? In compliance with GDPR, data will be stored on a password protected platform (Google Forms) and will not be shared with anyone else. Data will be kept until the research paper is returned by moderators. You will not be asked to provide your name, however so that you can be identified in the event you to withdraw, an email address needs to be provided. This will not be shared. Responses will be anonymised and stored in an anonymous format at the point of beginning analysis. The researcher will read responses and change any information that might identify a participant, such as name or school name (these have not been asked for). Findings will be disseminated in a research paper and possibly at conferences. Any direct quotes will be anonymised. HOW DO I AGREE TO TAKE PART?
