Let's all take a moment to appreciate that Mastodon, Twitter's current heir apparent, is completely devoid of all the web3, tokenized, blockchain/nft bullshit that crypto cultists have been feverishly mansplaining will power the internet going forward. None of it is necessary to build a robust, decentralized infrastructure. It was all a bunch of lies and self-deceit to lure suckers into the shitcoin casinos. Let 2023 be the year that crypto dies with a whimper.

💯 👏

I work actively in tech and I still have yet to read a compelling definition of #web3. What a pile of profiteering nonsense.

@tylersaunders @bnftsftw sorry to put my nose in the conversation..
I've been a collector for all my life, from stamps to Magic the Gathering, pokémon, even sugar packs that come with express coffee, and what made the click to me was that blockchain and NFTs solved the problem I had with ownership of digital collectibles.
I used Topps apps to collect all sort of collectible cards, I've played MtG and pokémon online and the fact that my assets are walled inside the apps is a big throw off for me.
@tylersaunders @bnftsftw I want to truly own the digital assets I buy.
To a certain extent some games may have the same benefit of allowing players to truly own their in-game assets (or some of them) but certainly not all type of games.
I believe blockchain will power a lot of games, but I also crave for a time where there are only games, no p2e, no blockchain or web3 games, just games that are fun to play and players fall in love for them. It just happens that some of them use blockchains

@zarroba @bnftsftw I don't have a problem with NFT as a technology. I think it's silly, but I don't really collect anything, so it's not meant for me anyway.

My issue with web3 and NFT was the predatory "FOMO" nature of it. People selling NFTs for literally everything, and the california gold rush nature of it all. My overall perception of the NFT market in the last year was it was one big "get rich, quick!" scheme and those are never for real.
