Santa Claus gave me crochet kits 💖

I started with one of the yarns, which turned out to be difficult as it was unbundling itself (green).
The second day I switched to another yarn (white).

I'm struggling with tension and making it look smooth, but I'm pretty happy with the results as this is just my first week crocheting 😁

@lara is the one on the right a ricorumi dog?

@noflashingneon yes, you're 100% correct! I hope it turns out okay 😂

I also have a set to do a carrot and a strawberry 😁

@lara that was my first crochet project too! I bought the kit and then realised I couldn’t crochet and had to buy a book. They’re great kits. I did a second one in blue

@noflashingneon lovely! 😍

I got this book as well with many projects. It has explanations of all stitch types, although I had to also watch some YouTube videos to see more in detail.

I can't wait to do the croissant 🥐 one 😁

@lara that looks fab! 😍
@noflashingneon thank you! You're so sweet 💖
@lara Looks like good starts. What are you using as stitch markers?

@ariaflame

Since during Christmas there was no way to buy any and was having trouble counting stitches, my husband 3D printed me some 😀

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4774727 these with the lock system are good, I'm using them to mark the first stitch and also secure the last stitch when I pause.

https://www.printables.com/model/25823-open-stitch-marker I use these to count stitches when I have to increase/decrease. They are a bit thick to work with 3mm yarn but we might reduce it a bit.

Crochet Marker with Latch by juanestrella

Added a catch and a latch to make it more like a safety pin. I modified the original STL using Microsoft 3D building included in Windows 10.

@lara I might look at that. I'm fairly lazy and use a piece of yarn of a different colour to note where a round ends.
@lara I alas do not have a 3D printer either.
@ariaflame I bet you can find cheap markers easily. I tried the yarn trick but it happened several times that the yarn would fall out (?), I don't know if the piece of yarn was too short or it was the quality of the yarn (I used the green one that gave me trouble 😔)
@lara I end up with the yarn winding up the crochet rings. I do have some mini safety pins that may be useful though, but I almost always have some yarn with me, offcuts etc.
@ariaflame safety pins are also a good idea!
@lara it’s hard to get the tension thing right at first. Even after quite a bit of practice my projects are still a bit uneven.
@DebsWithCats thanks for sharing! A tutorial I saw said: "don't fight the yarn, if you have to fight it it's because you're using too much tension". I've been following this idea and trying to do softer stitches 🤞
