Seeing people say #mastodon should uproot the entire project and centralize so that “it isn’t weak” while actively using mastodon to post it and have others see it hurts my brain. I know they signed up using their email too.
Usability for the majority is a concern because the goal isn’t to exclude people here but centralization is not the solution and I cannot understand why people would come here and say this as if the goal here is to just be the next twitter with no ideology behind the project and the fediverse as a whole. Our goal is for this project to be successful not to become another centralized twitter clone for the sake of grabbing users easier.
@jehan Ease of use (like not having to choose a server etc). I feel like it’s a non-conversation though because the point of all of this is to solve usability issues while maintaining decentralization. Centralizing isn’t an acceptable solution to ease of use here and if that’s what they want specifically as opposed to creative solutions I fail to see why they came here instead of migrating to the many centralized corporate controlled options.
@parker totally agree. Generic instances for most, the ability to admin your own instance for those who are inclined. The email analogy is entirely apt, as far as I’m concerned.
