New Year is just a construct, and yet we give it significance. We do this to create for ourselves new beginnings, better plans, the hope of happier times ahead. These things exist because we dream them into existence. So - Happy New Year to all of you. All power to your dreaming.
@joannechocolat ...and happy "normal day" to those of us whose "new year" is not this time of year. πŸ˜‰
@joannechocolat I try to enjoy Christmas festivities, but New Year is always harder to get over the line. My father and son died in the month of January. Only when early Spring flowers start to appear, do I start to feel more optimistic and joyful - ready to start the New Year.
@EllenAlice Sorry for your profound loss. This is literally and figuratively a dark time of year for many of us.
I take comfort in the lengthening days and plan for spring plantings, maybe force some bulbs to flower indoors.
Wishing you the best in 2023.
@Barbramon1 Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. I have already planted spring bulbs at my allotment. Gardening is so therapeutic and rewarding.
@EllenAlice Even here, where winter is hardly winter and flowers bloom all year, there are noticeable cycles in the lives of plants. Some put on their very best display in cool months while others are waiting for longer days. It's so satisfying to see what nature offers today and anticipate coming delights.
@Barbramon1 I lived in Portugal for 20 years. It was a joy to raise plants there, even annuals would survive the winter. I see lovely succulents in your photo - I started a collection of them. They were always the first plants to flower in January/February. "The earth smiles with flowers."
@joannechocolat Happy new year to you too πŸ₯³
@joannechocolat nope, it’s a monetizing scheme 😜
