Latter-day Saints alter a Nativity painting to make Mary more modest

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released an edited version of a 17th-century Italian painting to remove cleavage from the Virgin Mary.

@piatpod what about that baby knee cleavage?! So hot
@frankiespurlock @piatpod doesn’t look so much an edit more like a re-do (see hands, fabric folds &c) but still… ‘ugh, why?’ Feeding time is going to be a hassle: no cherubs to hold the baby while trying to deploy a teat.
@piatpod
I can't wait to see what they do with Jesus' hairless, tight abs.

@piatpod

They prefer their virgins prepubescent?

@piatpod I grew up Mormon (have since left because duh). I've seen this painting. This is the first time I've seen it was actually edited. I'm not sure which urge is stronger: to laugh or to facepalm.

... Also wondering if the artist painted the magic underwear on first. 😂

@piatpod MY GOD, SHE MIGHT BE FEEDING AN INFANT WITH THOSE BREASTS! GET THE SMELLING SALTS!
@piatpod is it just me, or does the edited Mary look like she's twelve?
@piatpod This is absolutely disgusting. Now Mary looks like she's ten, and while she would have certainly been young, are they saying the teenage girl version was too old? Also: how's she supposed to feed her ghost rape baby now? Find a patient goat?
