Joining the lovely mastadon trend of books I enjoyed reading this year:

- scattered minds: the origins and healing of adhd. This one spoke a lot to me because of how it describes some experiences I was having with difficulty focusing, on the body's response to stress. I also really liked the chapter on studies related to brain development in infants.

- how to do nothing: resisting the attention economy. Loved the parts about bird watching, art, and ecology. Also really enjoyed a whole new perspective on the Bay Area's nature. I thought the parts about the "attention economy" were less interesting and sort of felt added on.
- how to change your mind. This book on psychedelics was I think my favorite this year. I highly recommend it. It had a nice mix of the history, first person stories that brought tears to my eyes, and the science of psychedelics.
- how to take smart notes, ahrens. This book really helped me update my strategies for note taking and reading and writing.
@Niloufar so do you use the boxes and index cards? (or is my podcast-level memory of an entirely different book lol)
@tisjune I use a combination of overleaf for short term notes, zotero for literature notes, and obsidian for long term notes in my own words.
