My Lucid Air is getting wrapped this week. So I needed to drive the X up to Vandy instead.

It’s weird how quickly I got used to 500 mile range. 300 on X isn’t enough.

While FSD beta is nice, I had a ton of required disconnects which is far more jarring than the Lucid. FSD can do a lot more, but Dream Drive is a much smoother experience.

The driving performance of the X is trash compared to the Air. Not a fair comparison since different types of vehicles.

The X charges so… much… slower… than the lucid. 300 miles in ~20 minutes on Lucid. 300 miles in NINETY minutes on X???

My X creaks and squeaks a lot. My Air is whisper quiet.

@PhotonEmpress Batteries just charge slow in the end of their capacity (if you want the pack to last long)… this is why you need 30-50% more capacity than you really think. That, and Tesla is overdue for a higher charging voltage. Cybertruck (and Semi) powertrain will introduce 1000V and 1 Megawatt charging, hopefully that will spread to refreshed S and X. Lucid has done a really good job with their 900V charging, has given Tesla a run for their money here. Tesla needs to focus & execute.

@Robotbeat the 1000v charging in Teslas is long overdue. That and upping the battery capacity to 500+ miles. Those two things combined will give the Lucid setup a run for its money.

I was going to say it’s years away, but Tesla moves fast. They just need to retrofit Superchargers next. Hmmmm, maybe is a few years away? Unless they give everyone a CCS adapter? Oh the irony!

@PhotonEmpress I think rolling out Megachargers won’t be that hard (Tesla has fantastic experience with this stuff). The issue will be refreshing the powertrain and increasing the pack size in an environment that is still cell-starved… while rolling out Cybertruck at the same time.
