My job is voiceovers and I can tell you with absolute confidence that reading your writing out loud is like a magic trick for better proofreading.

The mouth stumbles on mistakes the eyes glide over.

@ConorMahood I'm a speechwriter and I'm always telling people that the cardinal rule is to read what you write out loud - record yourself if necessary - because the written word is very different from the spoken word.
@abeltrev yes! Specifically for anything that will eventually be spoken, if the script hasn't been read out loud before being sent to VO/being brought to the podium... Chances are quality will suffer.
