🧵They aren't defending a side, they are defending the truth. Much of the TwitterFiles is objectively a "conspiracy theory". There was no FBI campaign to suppress the Hunter laptop story -- a story that days after it broke I verified as being true.
If you'll remember, in October 2020, I proved the that "smoking gun" email the NYPost was talking about was valid, using the cryptographic signatures in the email. I know at least that email was true.
The FBI was concerned -- maybe overly obsessed -- with a repeat of the 2016 "October Surprise" where Russian hackers dumped a bunch of hacked emails.
They had reason to fear a repeat of what happened with Podesta's emails.
In January 2020, Russian GRU hackers broke into Burisma -- Hunter's former employer. Everyone assumed Russians would dump emails from the hack later in October, implicating Hunter fairly or unfairly.

Russians reportedly hacked Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company tied to Hunter Biden

The hacking suggest the Russian government might want to interfere in the US presidential election again.

Everything TwitterFiles describes about FBI behavior is consistent with concern about the Russian GRU hack of Burisma showing up as an October Surprise. Whether there was a laptop or not, they would've behaved the same.
There is a good discussion to be had here whether the FBI should've been that obsessed about the Burisma hack. There's a fine line between protecting against Russian disinformation and blocking information legitimately of concern for American voters.

I'm not defending the FBI. I think their actions here deserve criticism.

It's just that TwitterFiles still hasn't provided evidence linking this to the Hunter laptop. It's all suppositions and assumptions, not evidence.

The link to the laptop store is pure conspiracy-theory. This is the truth, and standing up for the truth doesn't mean you are defending the FBI.
Your principles are the things you defend even when it helps the opposing side, even when it helps the bastards at the FBI.
People who've followed me for a long know that I believe the FBI are a bunch of corrupt bastards. It wouldn't take much at all for me to believe their actions were secretly about suppressing the laptop story.
But it would take SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Just one thing PLEASE!
