@tarkowski @ton this is very adhoc at best. eG maintaining a repo with local changes and occasional upstream PRs.

This is very much a per-project process (Not unique to Mastodon code), of promoting code maintenance as part of contributions.

I’m running some experiments in the coming year around this. I think it’s a practice that needs more promotion.
