I am begging literally every website in 2023 to get rid of your damn pop-ups.

No, I don't want to get notifications in my browser.
No, I don't want to sign up for your newsletter.
No, I don't care about a different page than the one I'm reading.

STOP RUINING READING!

@shaunduke you forgot:

"No, I won't consent to your shitty tracking cookies! FECK OFF!"

@kkarhan @shaunduke came here for this. We don’t even need cookie’s anymore, how about some housecleaning in the browsers!
@shaunduke Sites that do these things are sites that lose me - once I see it i won't return

@shaunduke well, don't forget the "THE EU AND US REQUIRES US TO MAXIMIZE YOUR COOKIE STORAGE (opt -in) UNLESS YOU CHANGE SETTINGS"

so disgusting of a practice.

@shaunduke
We need to find the people who are clicking yes to geolocation informed desktop notifications for the 21 Jump Street fandom wiki and have a scientist do something where they cut them up to find out what made them that way so we can prevent it from happening again.
@shaunduke And no, I will not "sign in with Google" on every damn website on the internet!
@shaunduke well everyone and their grandparents block ads now so they're struggling to find another way to deliver them. Newsletters, "sponsored content", etc. And people just click "yes" to every popup ever without reading
@shaunduke it’s too much stimulation, as someone with both anxiety and migraine
@shaunduke You know, we live in a time when so many things/people are jockeying for our attention that some feel like using gimmicks to capture our attention. I don't think many of these people realize how off-putting this behavior can be, especially for people with trouble with distraction and focussing. Plus no true lover of reading would design a product that diverts your attention from the topic or issue at hand.
@shaunduke Also please stop putting your Menus, Newsletters etc in the form of a PDF which has to be downloaded!
@shaunduke Please use Pocket. If you are an avid reader of online articles, then you will love this wonderful app.
@shaunduke And let us not forget all the ads everywhere. I am not going to read a page that asks me to disable my adblocker. I am autistic and cannot handle ads popping up everywhere. I cannot read an article when I have an ad literally after a single paragraph. Put the ads on the right/left/top and bottom of the article, but NOT a thousand ads in the middle of it.
@shaunduke Use the Brave Browser and there won't be any pop ups.

@CMDR_Royal_Mons @shaunduke Opera is also excellent for blocking ads.
@shaunduke Script, ad, and pop up blockers FTW.
@shaunduke My web site has none of that shit because when I see those things on other sites it annoys the shit out of me. No more shit please!

@shaunduke If there is any justice in the Universe, Ethan Zuckerman will suffer excruciatingly for an infinite number of eternities...and a day.

@shaunduke
I have a extension that says "no" to GDPR questions. And another on if I want to log into IG.
@shaunduke there should be another internet where this isn’t allowed.
@shaunduke as with all forms of advertising, it makes me go, who TF actually goes for this shit?
@shaunduke There is a special place in Hell for whoever created the website template or whatever it is that most of the local newspapers (and a couple of nationals) in the UK use. It makes reading a news story almost impossible, especially on mobile. I always hit 'View simplified page' with a sigh of sweet relief if Chrome pops that up.
@shaunduke
I just close websites that do this now and add them to a block list. Internet too big, no one got time for that
@vfrmedia
@shaunduke Install uBlock Origin in your browser and that shit will go away.
