As we roll to the end of the year and there are like, award nominations for next year starting up and people will eventually get good news in a few months.... Here's a PSA from someone who doesn't need to know this to other people who think they don't need to know this but hopefully one of you ACTUALLY does:

When you get advance news of an award or nomination, they say, "Don't tell anybody."

There is a big exception for: your editor, your agent, your co-author, etc.

By "don't tell anybody" they mean like, don't spoil the announcement or upset other potential nominees/etc by posting this on your website or socials. But you should absolutely tell your editor or agent or anyone who had a major part to play in helping you get the book/short story out there because they also get to have quiet secret celebrations in their offices.

This also includes if you have, like, a short story in a best of the year collection, you can tell the original editor.

Also if anyone reading this does need to know this next year... congratulations in advance!
