If you still own a Twitter account in 2023 you are complicit.

@PaulaToThePeople I used to say that, and it's not untrue, but also not that simple.

Many marginalized people (autistic, queer, disabled) have built extensive support systems on Twitter, relying on mutual aid for emotional as well as financial support. Switching is not that easy for everyone.

I've deleted my account, too, but I'm still in two ways about leaving that space to fascists, denialists and snake oil vendors. Shouldn't we be there to contradict their lies? In the end, I've decided that not being part of that dumpster is better for my health, though, and that it makes more sense to have those discussions face to face.

As an EU citizen: If more than 45 million EU users remain, Twitter will be bound as "very large online platform" by the EU Digital Services Act.
(That will hurt).

So I keep my account, but won't do very much with it.

That's how I've always felt about those whose lives and businesses are based on Zuckerberg's platforms. As bad as Musk but keeps his head down. So I resisted from the start and got left as an outsider by many. So I only opened a twitter act < 1yr ago, and began learning/moving to fediverse when Musk started his tantrums. And I'll slowly draw people over here. But to coerce others to follow your timetable, when you've had longer to set yourself up here is counterproductive. You may as well suggest all fediverse F*bookers close their acs too.
@PaulaToThePeople I left Twitter at the first announcement of Musks takeover. That was in Spring 2022. Actually I don't even miss it much.
