The problem is, terms like marxist, communist, socialist, etc, have been hijacked, turned into meaningless insults, precisely to distract from whatever valuable insight they have to offer.
I’m actively opposed to that form (and all forms) of extremism.

And yeah, to some people the term has been distorted beyond any meaning, it's just their go to categorization for anything they don't like/are afraid of.
