I have a ? I saw that you can import your Bird community here. But that assumes your community is here or will move over. Many of my Black community is still there because they don’t know who they can trust. What suggestions do you have to help encourage them to move here vs staying or going to others like Tribel, Post, Counter Social? #blackmastodon #fediverse #POC #black #community #questions
@MinAdrianne I’ve resigned myself to the fact they simply won’t switch until they absolutely have to. I’ve mentioned that the environment is unimaginably more welcoming here, people are helpful, and most BIPOC are here because we can envision a better grade of social media. [sigh] They won’t change until they *want* to.
Granted, I still have my bird app accounts because I don’t want some squatters taking my names. But I don’t use them nearly as much as I used to.

@clayrivers

It's welcoming, but if I wanted to feel like I was at a faculty meeting I'd ... go to a faculty meeting, you know?

There are not enough blackfloks here yet. I want more.

Though, everyday I find new people! I do think it's getting better than it was when I thought "this is never gonna work"

@futurebird @clayrivers When I joined I was extremely nervous because my reputation is so important in the work I’m doing. I didn’t know anyone personally who has switched over so I was taking a huge risk joining. @BlackAzizAnansi followed me first & I started following Black followers even though I didn’t know them. I’m just saying it’s a scary feeling & basically a big leap of faith. I’m on the beta waitlist for Chris Bouzy’s site.

@MinAdrianne @futurebird @BlackAzizAnansi

BlackAzizAnansi is a blessing of the highest order! I hear ya about your reputation and the uncertainty of it all. Especially, with the way things are going, Elmo might decide to throw in the towel. Or something completely out of left field could happen and Twitter would have someone competent at the helm.

@clayrivers

that's the disheartening part for us oldies out here.
you don't get the basic point.
the principal.
without sticking to basic principals when it comes to fundamentals, individual interest always end up corrupting the system itself. the system we all live in, we all share, doesn't matter the environment.

@clayrivers

Bit, we are literally creating those basic principals right now. Clay gets it.
