You know that feeling when another #knitter throws down a challenge?
So yeah. That's why im now knitting three pairs of socks at once... (or according to husband "having a yarn based pissing contest").

I do feel like this is the perfect ADHD project though.

@knitting

@yarnhobbit @knitting That’s incredible! I’m just finishing up two pairs of socks, but I don’t think I could manage doing them all on one needle…
@cyndeebee I've never managed socks with dpns - I'malways a bit concerned that I'll take an eye out! Multiples are easier on cables.
@knitting @yarnhobbit *falls down laughinh* Good for you. I kinda feel like you should livestream when you get to the heels, because that part seems like Extreme Knitting 😁
@Violinknitter I'd not thought that far ahead! I may have to 😆
Sure, you can knit socks, but can you knit 12 socks at once?

@CypherSephiroth @WizardOfDocs @knitting not far off. Bizarrely, they're a nice project to pick up while I'm chatting with friends. Whereas anything with a chart requires absolute silence!
@yarnhobbit @WizardOfDocs @knitting can’t wait to see your project completed. Even if it’s not 12 socks at once.
@CypherSephiroth @yarnhobbit @knitting my WIP of the moment is a pair of shorts for next summer
They're actually starting to look like what they are
@CypherSephiroth @[email protected] not a knitter, this just got boosted into my feed, what the FUCK did i just read
@nev You’ll never see knitting as a grandma’s hobby.
@yarnhobbit @knitting I am in awe. I can only manage one sock at a time!
@yarnhobbit @knitting that gives me anxiety. I’m a knit one sock at a time on 9 inch circle circulars girl. But bravo to you.
@yarnhobbit @knitting wow that’s impressive, are they all going to be the same size or are you going to end up knitting heels in different places?
@cathsnow all the same size. I'm not sure I could manage different sizes too!
@yarnhobbit yes I was trying to get my head around that  good luck with them though.
@yarnhobbit @knitting Oh god, now I want to try this too. Whyyyyyy
@fforiwr @yarnhobbit I'm pretty sure I *could* do it, but since I know I can manage one pair of socks 2AAT in about 2 weeks, three pairs would take 6 weeks. Life's too short.
@yarnhobbit @knitting Are you on ONE circular? 😂 I love this! Yes! Did you get the toes started before you got them all in one line? I can't seem to ever get two going at once from CO forward, I have to start them separately (and even then I've never finished a full pair).
@hollie @yarnhobbit The trick is knowing the magic cast-on well enough to know which needle you started the 1st sock with, so you can start the 2nd the same way round. 6 *should* be just as simple...
@Knitronomicon @yarnhobbit Maybe it should be that simple but my brain rebels, lol! It's so impressive to me. It's inspiring too, I ought to CO a sock....
@yarnhobbit @knitting why invent this silly contest? Just tell everyone you have a six-footed person in your life. It will be ok.
@yarnhobbit I don't have the patience for even two at a time, or human sized socks in general. But mad respect for the "doing it to prove I can" energy
@knitting @yarnhobbit
Whoa. And yes I will be checking back for updates! 😊🧶🧶🧶
@knitting @yarnhobbit
Great! And I thought I was doing pretty good by starting tomorrow on casting on two socks at a time 😂

@yarnhobbit

I really should have learned to at least crochet. I know how to alter a pattern, and sew basic garments that will fit any body correctly -- but that's not called upon much anymore.

My other grandmother was the one who did crochet, and I didn't spend as many of my early years with her.

To me crochet is awesome, and knitting is friggin' magic. And since nobody is pissing on the yarn.... all good!

@riiverstyx being able to sew & alter clothes to fit is a fine skill! One of the modules in my youngest's fine art college course is textiles - knowing their way around a sewing machine has made a big difference.
