Here’s my detailed attempt at answering a couple of big COVID questions from 2022: how many cases are we missing? And does it matter? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-12-29/how-many-covid-cases-are-out-there-as-2022-ends/101812426
Australia had more than 10 million COVID cases this year. But how many more went unrecorded?

We’ve always known official COVID case data didn't capture the full scope of transmission, but 2022 was the year that Australia lost grip of just how big an underestimate it is.

ABC News
@caseybriggs Covid is now well established, hospitalizations are rising linearly, large outbreaks in China and elsewhere, long covid is steadily growing and all health measures removed. IMO case counting does not matter. Covid will continue to mutate until a real nasty one like Delta arrives.
@DougHardy @caseybriggs And then what? Governments still won't act. It would have to be a magnitude higher CFR before they'd bring back restrictions again.
@RettopNoj @caseybriggs Governments act when vested business interests tell them to. If it's affecting their profits then they will squeal. Agree we have a long way to go to get to that stage.
