Thoughts after reading 83 #romance novels in 100 days:
(in no particular order)

1. Consent is sexy
The steamiest scene I read was incredible and the MCs *didn’t even touch each other* - it was allll about getting and maintaining consent

2. Tropes help set (or subvert) expectations
The moment it’s clear there’s only one bed (or insert your favorite trope here), the reader is ready to fit the story into a template. That can build tension or create humor. It’s not just “lazy” writing

@belehaa wow 83 books in 100 days!!

Which is the book you’re referring to?

@heydebigale The steamy scene? It was in What a Wallflower Wants by Maya Rodale. Huge CW because the premise for the book is that the MC is dealing with trauma from rape. I liked-but-didn’t-love the book as a whole, but that scene impressed me
@belehaa I haven’t read this author! Thanks
@heydebigale I don’t think I’ve read anything else from that author. The book was on somebody’s recommended reads list, my library had it, and I was between series, so I gave it a try
