Lurkie@merleid if what I learned while mormon is accurate, Christmas is not the actual anniversary of Christ's birth. The current timing is motivated more by politics than accuracy. Pagans celebrated winter solstice celebrations long before Christmas was a common holiday, Christmas was a way to make it Christian. In the mormon church it's often phrased as a time to remember Christ's birth, rather than literally being his time of birth.
