The perfect storm Musk is hoping for in the flight tracking world may be coming…
Facts we know
- The Saudi Arabians own a large stake in Twitter
- The Saudi Arabians also don’t like flight tracking, they’ve contacted ADSBExchange to request to be blocked and offered money. They’ve also expressed there concerns to the ICAO.

Based off of facts I see here and other information I can not share as of yet. I am very confident at the very least the Saudis are involved with future developments and possibly Musk too. Given the stance we know Elon has on my tracking I wouldn’t be surprised.

If you had owned something that people didn’t like (like a network of thousands of aircraft tracking receivers) and someone offered you millions of dollars for it you would take the deal wouldn’t you!?!? Only a mater of time…

@JxckS Wait, so the US doesn't have its own infrastructure for tracking plane locations? The location tracking system is privately owned?

Planes have to talk to air traffic control. We own ATC, don't we?

@peatbog @JxckS Every ATC facility has its own ADS-B gear. Anyone with a few dozen bucks in their pocket can set up their own receiver. ADSBExchange just aggregates the data from individually owned receivers.

@nocleverhandle @JxckS

"... Currently they are tracking over 200 aircraft that belong to “authoritarian regimes” as determined by The Economist Intelligence Unit. This would not be possible without ADS-B Exchange as dictators and government officials are often the first people to demand that trier aircraft be filtered out."

Dictator buy-out: predictable, eh?

Public ownership is safer than private when it comes to #fatcatbullshit.

ADS-B Exchange
@peatbog @JxckS AIUI, ADS-B Exchange does not own the receivers -- it's just a network of receivers owned by individuals. If some dictator buys ADS-B Exchange... they get the historical database and nothing else.

@nocleverhandle @JxckS
Cool beans.

Thanks for knowing things!

@peatbog @JxckS Distributed ownership of the infrastructure is best in cases like this, because there's no single pressure point that can be co-opted or bought.
