One detail that endlessly runs through my mind is that Reggie Fowler, one of the principals for Crypto Capital Corp, the Bitfinex and Tether payments processor who partially contributed to their insolvency, had counterfeit bills and tools to counterfeit more when he was arrested
@BennettTomlin my favorite adjacent story about Reggie Fowler is that he basically killed the Alliance of American Football, which was actually kind of promising outside that one snaggle
@nikhileshde oh yeah using that same bond certificate I referenced and the money in CCC accounts to pretend he was wealthy
@BennettTomlin yeap. I wanted to write about it but never could find the time. It was a such a weird footnote to that whole thing
@nikhileshde one of the benefits of running a niche podcast is we get to mention weird things like that
@BennettTomlin Oh my. That could be extraordinary. Has Fowler flipped at all since flipping and un-flipping? He has nothing to lose at this point, given his age and the sentence.
@carlitoscohones he has made his plea, and I believe has been cooperating with no deal in the hopes it’ll affect his sentencing (this is somewhat reading between the lines)
@BennettTomlin i'm still amazed the counterfeiting didn't come up. i'd think, surely that's a go to jail go directly to jail
