Batman is copaganda.
@QuacksAnonymous you're a monster!

@NLAWScametovisit

DC = Detective Comics.

I'm only speaking the truth.

@QuacksAnonymous what if it stands for private detective?

@NLAWScametovisit

copaganda.

The police had a signal for him to come at their beck and call.

@QuacksAnonymous thats true. its an allegory for the bluring line as the state breaks their monopoly on the legitimate use of force by increasingly delegating to private contractors.

@NLAWScametovisit

Police sanctioned vigilantism.

@QuacksAnonymous aided and abetted by capital.
Naturally only the rich vigilante can get away with it.
@QuacksAnonymous a direct line to the commissioner, too. cant even be bothered with the rank and file.

@NLAWScametovisit

Note that the cops almost never really wanted to arrest him even when they felt they had to because it was their job and he was a public relations nightmare. That was always the problem, public relations.

@QuacksAnonymous indeed. perhaps even a wider indictment of society and the press for enabling this rich vigilante to wield the tools of the state how it suited him without being held to the same standards.

@NLAWScametovisit

How much of their public relations nightmare was that a private citizen was being more effective at wielding the violent force that we expect to be the exclusive property and responsibility of the state, to keep the streets clean and safe?

@QuacksAnonymous well thats the real question, isnt it? Without oversight or judicial review, there's no way to know if he was actually being more effective or if he was just wielding his wealth and power to better manage a narrative of safety than the state was able to.
@QuacksAnonymous AND billionaire worship. Can't forget the billionaire worship.
