So looking at a recipe, I came across this notice.

The term, "nightshade free," disturbes me. First, unless you're a witch/herbalist, you probably aren't working with nightshade. Second, if you are a witch/herbalist, I'm pretty sure it's generally known that nightshade it's not meant to be consumed. Lastly, if I guess that nightshade refers to tomatoes, who puts tomatoes in a sweet bread pudding made of sugar cookies!?

Well shit. Nightshade intolerance refers to individuals who are so white, they can't eat tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, or peppers.

Yeah, it's an intolerance of "new world" produce.
