The Taliban has banned Afghan women from university education. The hopes and dreams of women to pursue educations, careers, and lives of independence are over. Forever. This hits me hard.

Afghan women and girls now have zero futures. They will essentially be enslaved.

It is incomprehensible that females will not be allowed the freedom of making choices with their lives.

Secondary education has recently been banned for girls in Afghanistan, and the recent university ban means girls can now not go past 6th grade. Now it appears that females are banned from working in schools, signaling a ban on girls’ education altogether.

Can you imagine what it is like to be a female in a country ruled by religious fundamentalists? We see the creeping influence of religious fundamentalism around the world and in the US as well. This is real.

Early this week, the leaders of Afghanistan declared that women could not attend university. Now there are fears the any education for girls is in jeopardy as some female teachers are sent home.
